The group of Lutea-Hybrids are woody/ tree peonies, derived from crosses of P. delavayi, P. lutea and P. potaninii x P. suffruticosavarieties. Especially crosses with P. lutea have made it possible to introduce the yellow color into cultivated varieties. Lutea hybrids are characterized by vigorous growth, greater resistance, much more willing branching of the plants and later flowering compared to P. suffruticosa-varieties. Lutea hybrids are the latest flowering woody peonies. Some of these varieties also show beautiful red foliage in late autumn.
